The Shimadzu 228-21217-91 6-port valve rotor seal is a key replacement component for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) autosamplers and switching valves. Manufactured from high-grade Vespel polyimide, this rotor seal delivers low friction and high wear resistance when interfacing with ceramic stators during high-frequency injection cycles. It operates within a recommended pH range of 1 to 9 and supports standard HPLC pressures up to 5,076 psi (350 bar). Common indications that the rotor seal requires replacement include poor injection volume reproducibility or fluid leaks at the injection valve. Flushing the system with unbuffered mobile phase or aqueous solutions after using buffered salts helps prevent premature Vespel material wear and extends component life.
