The Waters 700003767 Filter Flag Assembly is a precision optical component used in the classic optics assembly of the Waters 2998 Photodiode Array (PDA) Detector. Positioned between the deuterium light source / M1 mirror and the flow cell assembly, the filter flag serves as an optical shutter mechanism with three main functions: blocking light to record dark current calibration spectra, opening fully for routine sample spectral absorbance acquisitions, and interposing internal wavelength calibration optical filters (such as erbium filters) into the optical path for automated wavelength verification and calibration. This assembly is specifically engineered for the 2998 Classic optical bench configuration to maintain accurate spectral resolution and low stray light across the 190 to 800 nm wavelength range.
